We had an event on the 24th of january 2024 .This event had in attendance some of our members in jos and neighbouring states around,we also had some members join us live via zoom.
One of the first goals of spinal cord injury survivors is wanting to walk, and many times when people dont walk they become miserable and frustrated and dont plan their lives, thinking there’s nothing they can do. spinal cord injury changes one’s life and if you dont evolve with that change you will remain stagnant.
At this event, we planned what we want our year 2024 to look like as sci-survivors on a vision board.
A vision board is a helpful tool that can help you get clear on what goals you want to achieve in your life. It can help you bring awareness to what matters most so you focus on the right things when working towards your goals.
This event also gave us a sense of belonging and leave their houses and beds as it remains most us people living with spinal cord injuries do not go out because of lack of wheelchairs, accessibility, fear of an accident, or lack of places to go to/visit.
We hope to get funding and organise more of such events because such events make people with sci very happy .when people go out it helps their mental state aswell,most of this people hardly go our because of the resons i stated earlier and the transport system in africa aswell makes it impossible for PWDS to go out aswell.
