Spinal cord injury africa association Network
Empowering and supporting people with spinal cord injury living in Africa with information, resources, and networking.
About Us
The Spinal Cord Injury Africa Association Network was founded and is run by Yvonne Jack. It is a network of people and organizations dedicated to providing critical information and support to people living with spinal cord injury in Africa. SCIAA believes that knowledge is power. We determined to fill the “Knowledge Gap” in order to empower African SCI to live more productive and fulfilling lives.
The SCI Knowledge Blog
The SCI Knowledge Blog provides information on spinal cord injury and related issues critical to the challenges of living in low resource areas of Africa. Armed with knowledge on dealing with secondary medical complications and assistive devices such as wheelchairs, they greatly improve their ability to survive and thrive.
SCI Models of Africa
People with spinal cord injury as routinely ostracized in many African societies. They are seen as objects to be pitied rather than as equals. Our African SCI Models are changing these perceptions with their beauty, style, and grace.
SCIAAN Events
It is extremely important for people with spinal cord injury to get together to share information and encourage each other. SCIAAN runs periodic events and celebrations.
