Why Model?
Throughout the world, and particularly in low-resource countries, people with disabilities are not thought of as “models”. This belief is tied to ingrained disability stigma, low expectations, and social ostracization which is seen as incompatible with modeling. Our SCI Models of Africa are unwilling to accept this viewpoint and seek to break the cycle of this harmful stereotyping of people with disabilities with their modeling.
